about us

Built by Hand,
Inspired by Nature

Smoky Mountain Retreat began with a simple vision: to create a beautiful home in a peaceful natural setting that reflected our love of nature and our creative, entrepreneurial spirit. Construction of The Cabin began in 2015, followed by our home and The Suite in 2021. Rob, who owns a building company with his father, brought exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail to every aspect of our West Coast build. Together, we designed a space rooted in quality, thoughtful design, and a deep connection to the land.

Over the years, our property has become a place where we enjoy gardening, beekeeping, fostering animals, and gathering with family and friends. We've also been fortunate to host community workshops and markets, creating opportunities to connect with others who share our appreciation for nature and meaningful experiences.

From the very beginning, we knew we wanted to share this special place with others. Hosting guests has introduced us to kind, adventurous people from around the world, and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to welcome you and share the beauty of this place we call home.

Hive to Heart Honey Smoky Mountain Apiary

Beekeeping began as a passion project for Nicky and has bloomed to become a small local business here in Metchosin. With every stay we gift a jar of sweet local wildflower honey made by our hardworking backyard bees for you to enjoy.

Our Pups

Eddie is the old man of the house. He has difficulty with his eye sight but his hearing works perfectly when there are goodies offered. Most days he can often be found basking in the sunshine and sticking close to his comfy bed.

Tommy is our social butterfly and will be the first to welcome you each morning. This guy loves ear rubs, long walks through the forest, squeaky toys and giving kisses. He would love to join you for a cup of tea on the patio.
